Monday question

As many of you are on vacation or were on vacation, the most asked question is: “How can we stay healthy when we’re on vacation?”

Well to tell you the honest truth , i have been on vacation for 3 weeks and i lost 1,5 kg!! How, i don’t really know, i’m eating the same kind of food, the same quantities. The only thing that changed is that here the main meal is at 2h pm rather than 5h pm, and i move more than usual.

What most people do on vacation normally, is that they take a vacation from their normal diet, and that’s why they gain weight. It’s ok if you don’t do your yoga or Pilates for a few weeks, the important thing is sticking to your diet. Healthy food, no junk. I am all for trying new dishes, but always ask what it is made of, even if you feel the waiter is going to hit you with his tray! And if you feel you over did it one day, take it easy the next. Don’t stress about it while you’re enjoying yourself, once you’re back to your routine, everything will fall into place. Enjoy your vacation, try all the desserts you want, walk more, and you will be just fine!

So people, what do you do on vacation to stay healthy and fit?

Monday question

Desktop97

Many readers have asked on different occasions about weight loss and age. How much weight should we loose after 4o? Can we aim to be model thin or just being normal thin (as in healthy weight)?

When i was in my mid 30’s i was very skinny, mostly due to unhappiness and depression. I thought i looked good. My mother used to tell me i looked like an ironing board! Go figure! I didn’t starve myself or go on diets. Food just wasn’t important to me back then.

Now, almost 10 years later, i’m at a healthy weight, i look younger, and feel great!

What i want to say is that at a certain age our skin isn’t as elastic as it was in our 20’s. We can’t afford to loose much weight; our face will look older, the skin will sag quicker, and the glow of health won’t show..

So in my opinion, a healthy weight is the best. Follow a healthy diet, exercise regularly….and be happy! That’s my recipe!

What is yours?

Today’s question isn’t about health or diet or food. It’s all about comfort.

Once you get home from work, what do you wear for comfort? Do you prefer your yoga pants, an old pair of jeans, a long and flowy dress? Or you are the kind of woman who has to stay dressed up no matter what?

I personally am a jeans kind of girl! I think it’s the most amazing invention of all times!! Honestly who doesn’t feel comfortable in any pair?!

I like them because they take you from morning to evening, don’t get crumpled, and can be dressed up or down, depending with what you pair it with.

So ladies, what is your comfort dress code?

Monday question

Desktop97I received a lot of emails asking if it is easy to start eating differently, more healthy. If it doesn’t become boring and bland after a while. I personally love to eat good food, and find that there is no reason that healthy has to equal bland and boring!

Vegetables, fish, legumes and fruits are all delicious and nutritious at the same time; add spices and herbs to the mix, don’t be afraid to try new recipes, and don’t give up if you feel stuck. The web is full of recipes from the easiest to the most difficult, you will always find something! I find it easy to cook healthy, and always enter my kitchen as if entering a lab! I always end up inventing something new!

What would you answer these ladies, is it easy for you to eat healthy? And how do you go about it?

Monday question

Desktop97Hello there! Hope you had a relaxing, sunny and fun weekend!

Today’s question is about advice (we usually always get free advice!). About health advices to be precise. So what was the best health advice you have been given, and did you follow through? And who was it from?

I usually always get advice from my mom about this subject (she’s my private health guru!), and i always follow through. Yep, she’s that good.

Waiting for your answers!

Monday question

Desktop97Today’s question is for all of you who eat a lot of meat. (By a lot i mean more than 4 times a week). Do you have it because it’s easier and quicker to cook, because you like it? And do you think you can reduce your amount by say, half?

I used to be a meat eater, then i stopped for a few years, then back again (you can read about it here ), and now i barely eat it, it is not a major food for me anymore. If you have a look at the Mediterranean food pyramid you will notice that meat is eaten in very small quantities, while veggies, fruits and legumes are the main food source.

Will you be able to make a change in your diet that is so radical?

A Mediterranean city..

Every country on the Mediterranean has its charm, its food, and its traditions. What they all share is the sun, sea, and blue blue sky..

Today i’m writing from the south of France, Cannes to be more precise, where i will be staying for a week, till the end of the glamorous Cannes Film Festival.

The south of France brings already good food to the mind, extremely good wine, walks on the beautiful beaches, and long nights filled with the sweet smell of the south..

It was too cold for me, but not for the sun lovers!

What if you add an international film festival to all that? You get Cannes!

Cannes is a very beautiful city on the sea side, filled with more cafes than you can count, little restaurants, seafood places, beautiful hotels, and of course for the fashionistas, plenty of shopping to do!

I love Cannes during the festival; it’s full of people from around the world, industry people, movie affectionnados, fans, tourists, journalists…All mingling together.

You see couples in black tie and long evening dresses walking next to people in shorts and flip flops!

The french city turns inside out for this event, and it is something to see!
